BootPic!
A program by Brett G. Durrett
The following is information about the program 'BootPic'. Included in
the archive (if you even got an archive) are the following files:
BOOTPIC.PRG
BOOTPIC2.PRG
BOOTPIC.TXT
Well, it isn't a real big list, but I am working on it! If you have any
comments (please send me mail, oh god, please!!!) I can be reached on
Compuserve (# 73637,2775). And since you were one of the original 500
people to order this amazing knife, I am also including a copy of a
program I like to call SCRNDRVR.TOS (it is a screen saver that steals any
picture when you press Alt-Help). For more information about that, boot
it in medium or high res (it works in all resolutions, but the text
really looks crappy in low res).
BOOTPIC.PRG
This program (installed in your AUTO folder) will load a Degas picture
(sorry, not the compressed format) during boot-up. The picture must have
the name BOOTPIC.PI? (and it must be on drive C, in the root). I know
this is a hassle, but I made this for myself, and out of the goodness in
my heart I gave it to you! (What a bunch of shareware B.S.) I stole the
idea from the Mac (gee, nobody ever steals anything from the Mac) after
seeing the popular 'Opus lifting the desktop' picture as a boot-up
screen. Well, if you want to convert the Mac Opus to a Degas format, you
can have a computer that looks exactly like a Mac (gee, great).
BOOTPIC2.PRG
Well, a programmer's work is seldom correct! This program is exactly the
same, except it selects a random picture using the BOOTPICx.PI? filename
as it's root. You must put 4 pictures on the disk, or you will get a
blank screen when it attempts to load your picture. The files will be
BOOTPIC0.PI? - BOOTPIC3.PI? (yes - 0,1,2,3). I might do a program that
just selects from a random Degas file on your hard disk, but hey - who am
I kidding? You should be use to lack of support if you bought an ST.
Once again, the pics must be on drive C root!
I would like to say 'hello' to Jim Nitchals, Molly Dogg (my pet), Steve
Hales, The MULE guys (Ozark), Jim Kent (tell Jeff I said 'hi'), Tom
Hudson (I don't know you, but I love your format), and all of the people
who sent me mail from my other shareware stuff (none).
If you find some use in this program, well, give yourself $10, you
definitely need it! Actually, if you do enjoy this program, please
donate $10 to some worthy fund (and it's tax deductable)!
Use, distribute, destroy!
